Republic Day 2025
Event Start Date : 26/01/2025 Event End Date 26/01/2025

Republic Day is one of the most important national festivals of India, celebrated every year on 26th January with great pride and enthusiasm. It marks the day in 1950 when the Constitution of India came into effect and our nation became a sovereign, democratic, and republic country. Although India gained independence on 15th August 1947, it was on 26th January 1950 that the country adopted its own constitution and gave itself the power of self-governance. This day reminds us of the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and the vision of the leaders who drafted the guiding principles of the country.

The main celebration takes place in New Delhi, at Rajpath, where the President of India hoists the national flag and a grand parade is organised. The parade showcases the strength and cultural diversity of the Indian Armed Forces, with attractive tableaux from different states displaying their unique traditions, art, and progress. Gallantry awards such as the Param Vir Chakra, Ashoka Chakra, and Vir Chakra are also presented to the brave soldiers. School children perform colourful dances and cultural programmes to highlight our rich heritage.

Apart from the capital, Republic Day is celebrated in every state and city with equal fervour. Schools, colleges, and government institutions organise flag hoisting ceremonies, speeches, patriotic songs, and various competitions to remind people, especially the younger generation, of the importance of this historic day. Students deliver speeches and essays on the significance of the Indian Constitution, and sing the National Anthem with pride.

Republic Day also serves as a reminder of our fundamental rights and duties. It encourages every citizen to follow the values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity established by the Constitution. It urges us to be responsible citizens and work together for the progress and unity of our country.

In conclusion, Republic Day is not just a celebration, but a symbol of our country’s unity and democratic spirit. It pays tribute to the freedom fighters and Constitution makers who laid the foundation of modern India. Every Indian feels proud on this day, and we must honour it by upholding the values of our Constitution and contributing positively to the nation.
